Hesh My frind.

Nice work my to be honest with you because of the change in grain and figure orientation, my personal opinion is ta .02" Maple purfling would have given it a finished look. Not that anything is wrong with it as it is but to my eye it screams for a very thin separation line.

Hesh,

I'm with Michael on this one. My aesthetic sensibilities tell me that a thin
maple purfling would add a lot. To each his own.....great BRW, by the way!

Thanks Hesh, I was planning on using the same wood for bindings as the sides, but wasn't sure if it was "acceptable". After seeing your beautiful guitar. I know it's acceptable.

Well, I like it, and I'm not just saying that! I am curious to see how you will follow up the "stealth" concept, and how well you will be able to tie the rest of the design elements together, but so far so good. I am also very fond of side purflings; it's all good!

I'm firmly in the 'needs a delimiter' camp as well- even a thin black line if you think maple would be too 'much'.
However, it would be tricky to add it now- I did it on one guitar (cutting a narrow slot and putting in veneer after the binding was on) and it's not something I'd care to repeat, especially with a BRW guitar to work on.
I doubt you want to rout off the binding and redo it at this point.
It will be interesting to see how it all turns out, as it will probably get more dramatic under the finish-perhaps the bindings will seem a bit more 'deliberate' at that point.
How are you going to handle the end wedge?

When the finish is applied the grain differences will become more visable!!!!
I've done this before ;but i do like to make the bindings of woods totaly different in color from the sides!

I use shellac as a sealer and the color of it will determine the the color "POP" difference betwen the 2 wood types!

OMG Hesh!...what are those stains on your bench top. Looks like it's time to turn over that top or get a fresh piece of MDF. Dust is one thing...but stains!!!
