Finally got a new digital camera (old one died) so I can post some pics again. The new one (Fuji S6000) didn't come with an AC adapter, grrrr. Can I use the one from my old Olympus, which has the same plug? The book that came with the Fuji says use only Fuji AC adapter part # blah, blah. Is there a difference, or are they just trying to sell me something with their name on it? Thanks, Paul |

Does it use the same voltage? Something like 2 AA batteries? If you could get a look at the Fuji one you could probably tell. The voltage and milli amps are usually printed on the adapter. The only other thing that you have to watch for is whether it has a positive or negative center tap on the plug. It tells that on the adapters too. |

If you check the owners manual(s) you may be able to find the info about the voltage and polarity for both cameras. If they match exactly, you should be able to use the old adapter. If they don't match, don't try it. Even though it's only a matter of a few cents, many consumer electronics devices aren't protected against reverse polarity or incorrect voltages. Those same coaxial plugs are used for different polarities and voltages, so they're no help. It's not like 120v plugs looking different from 240v ones, etc. when dealing with household AC. Paul, of course I can't vouch for this adapter or the Ebay seller, but I ran into a similar situation with my digital Canon camera. I had forgotten/lost my Canon brand battery charger, and a couple of Canon brand lithium batteries. I started looking on Ebay, and found Canon branded chargers for about $35 (if I remember correctly) and batteries were about $20 or $30 each with the Canon name on them. I decided to try a "compatible." I bought a charger for something like $1.50, and 4 lithium batteries for $3 each. All brand new, some unknown off brand. The shipping, which was very reasonable, was more than the equipment. It all works perfectly. I cannot tell any difference after months of using the batteries, swapping the no-names for the Canon. So, sometimes you get more than you paid for. YMMV. Dennis |

If the output of the adapter is AC, polarity is not an issue. I've had similar experiences as Dennis, but as he said, YMMV. Radio Shack has universal adapters. I've had good luck with mine. |

I've got a similar camera, the S5200, and batteries seem to last a long, long time, I don't think I'd ever bother with the AC cable. |
