I had these for a job which is now complete, and I can't think of any use for them in my work now. If anyone can use them for something (inlay?) then I've got around 50 2.5"x3.5" veneers of Indian ebony for free to the winner of my 'Can You Use Them For Something?' contest! The ebony is kind of a dark chocolate colour, turns pretty close to black when oiled, and it's -really- hard. The veneers are from 1/32" to 1/8" thick, random. |

I'd make bookmarks with the thinner ones, and practice inlaying the thicker ones. Ray |

That's a pretty good answer, actually. Never thought of using them for inlay practice. It'll make a nice duality since an inlay artist is getting a bunch to use -as- inlay, as well. PM me addresses. |

Bob, My entry in the "Can You Use Them For Something?" contest: 1.) soundhole/rosette inlay (I'm planning on trying the 2-sided inlay right to the edge, a la Matt Mustapick.) 2.) help you reclaim some of your bench space! Ah OK...I stopped reading when I got to the word "first"...  1) as accent lams for laminated stock used for turning wood knobs 2) as accent lams for headstocks (and maybe bodies) gap-filled with black epoxy in between 3) an idea so clever, you'd want to keep them...  just kidding |

I actually made a chess board of Macassar ebony and birdseye maple for my brother earlier in the year. On a more pointed note, now I know what to do with all the scraps of exotics I end up with here instead of what I was doing... |

What's funny is that Sam got them in England today, as well. The shipping was a bit more to England than it was to you guys, though :) I want pictures when you do something with them! |

I would have drilled some holes in a few of them and strung them onto some string and hung it in my birds cage. I then would have snapped a couple pictures of my birds faces once they realized that their beaks had been widdling away and not the wood. just kidding. Jason
