The local steel yard sells something called cold rolled carbon rods and rectangles. The price is so much lower than what I am used to paying for carbon fiber bars that I am assuming it must not be the same thing. They didn't give me much information on the phone but can anyone tell me the difference between this stuff and what we use as stabilizers in necks etc...? I am curious.
Thanks,

Are they talking about cold rolled carbon steel?  It is a valid product, and should be a clarification point they would understand.

Okay! yes, my mistake. When I did out the weight per foot I added a zero before the numbers, i.e .0319 lbs. per foot for 3/16 by 3/8. I checked it again and it is .319. So yes, it is steel. Sorry guys, carry on!
