in response to what has been mentioned a few times in another thread, i thought i would pose a question. i just received my kit for my first guitar (pictures to follow soon). when selecting the bridge plate material, i saw mad rose on the list and thought, hmmm... maybe that would be cool. i gave plenty of thought to pretty much every other selection that i made, but didnt really think twice about the bridge plate. now, im reading that mad rose has a tendancy to split along the grain. since it will be placed perpindicular to the grain of the top, is this an issue? i might add, that the bridge plate i received is my favorite piece of wood in the whole kit. everytime i walk by the room where i store my wood, i walk in and just give that mad rose a tap. brings a smile to my face everytime. ive never heard anything quite like it. so what do you think?

I bought a mess of MadRose head plates from LMI when they first started having problems with their supply. I've used them for bridge plates in my last three and have had absolutely no problem whatsoever. I think being glued to the bottom of the sounboard would have a stabalizing effect, but hey, what do I know.

I use Madrose bridge plates interchangably with BRW. I just orient the grain so it is at a skew so the pin holes will not all fall on a single grain line.

So far no probs and I tend to like the rosewood bridge plates.
