I have been playing about 17 years, I played electrics for years. I got bored playing in bands for about 10 years and really did not improve alot. About 2 years ago I seriously got involved with finger style playing and have not plugged a guitar in since. I have an om and an auditorium. I play daily for about 1 to 3 hrs, and have been building less than a year.


I am building 2 oms now and am anxious to build a parlour with an armrest, but that is not til later. I have not played a parlour enough to know if i would prefer it yet.

mmmm... dough... nut. i love my dread, but i guess if i just had to have ONE... id have to split the middle and reach for the OM. it just makes sense if you play all different styles of music. at least to me anyways.

Not so fast! Mine is a dread, too. But then I like hard driving bluegrass rhythm, and flatpicking. But thank goodness I can have more than one.

I play a combination of bluegrass/country/contemporary Christian/classic rock on my guitars and by far the easiest playing and best sounding guitar is one I got from Frank Finoccio that he calls a "prima"


this guitar is somewhat like a dread and somewhat like an OM. I guess you could say it is a combination of the two. It has plenty of punch like a dread, and great mid and upper range tones like the OM too. awesome sounding guitar!


As of right now, Dread's and these Prima's are my complete line of guitars.

I am currently building for myself an OM, the same size and shape as my Celtic Cittern- and will make a good addition to the two D***d****ts and beater OM I own.

D***d****ts are great versatile instruments with a good range, but I do want something with more presence in the trebles. The other OM is a gigging guitar, and only sounds great plugged.

I recently had been expressing interest in the A****d**n, but that was short lived.

I voted for OM/OOO, but could not possibly really only have one guitar. The very minimum would be a OOO and a classical. You can't play Terrega on a OOO! Also I would need an lute 8 or 10 course.

Having always been a fan of Chet Atkins acoustic sound, I made my first
build a nylon string. I have a couple of steel strings but they have seen little
us since I finished my classical cutaway. I highly recommend anyone who
plays fingerstyle should have one in the arsenal. They are very expressive in
all aspects, big or small sound. It didn't take me long to figure out a thumb
pick worked for me. I have played it almost every day for 6 months and it
has kinda breathed some new life into my playing. And hey, good enough
for Willie, good enough for me.
