Many of us are familiar with and use the available, free features of web photo albums to document our builds. I'd like to recommend one in particular and that is Picasa.... by Google.

Picasa is a photo and media handler which can be downloaded for free from Google and it will help organize and modify any and all of your digital media on your computer.

Once you have uploaded your photos from your digital camera to your computer you can then crop, rotate, adjust color, add effects, etc, etc, etc.....

The really nice feature is that once you have created a folder on your computer that contains all of the photos that document one of your builds, you can then upload it to the Picasa/Google server as a web album. Picasa (Google) allows 1 gig of media storage for your albums which is more than sufficient for a significant amount of .jpg files.

Another great feature is that you can add captions to each of the photos in the albums you create and the ability to edit at anytime from any computer; all you have to do is go to your web album... (gosh.. a real edit feature... )

My guess is that this would really be handy for luthiers to communicate progress to their customers. It is also a great way for hobby builders like myself to share a bit with my chlidren, friends and family who are now spread across the country.

Here are the web albums I've created to date for my builds. Please don't be too critical...

I'm sure that many of you can be much more creative than I.

Cheers,

Peter

Peter, that is very nice.  I use Picasa all the time for all my photo needs, including downsizing for posting to OLF.  I have never explored the website before.  Cool indeed.
