Well this is what I have to show for 5 hours of work today (most of which was spent setting up my router to cut the rosette channel and wooden circle). This is my first attempt at making a rosette using wood and shell. Snake wood and Paua abalone is the combination here. My standard rosette is wood and this is what I have decided to offer as an upgrade. This is the first time I have used the shell strips for anything and I am very pleased with the results. If the rosette isn’t pretty enough then you should see this top and the back and sides! Bearclaw Engelmann spruce on a nice set of Cocobolo. Can’t wait to get this one done.

Thanks guys. Its really not that hard to do. I think now that I have done one I should be able to cut my time significantly. Probably down to 1 hr or less. The big job was setting up my router. But now that it is done I will not have to do it again.

Not to worry, Josh. That's just beautiful. Where did you snag the snakewood?

Steve

I am using the snakewood rosette pieces from LMI. It took me two pieces to do that rosette. I can get away with only using one on my standard 1/2 in. rosette. I would like to buy a large piece of snakewood and cut my own pieces but it is so expensive. So I will probably continue to get it from LMI until I can find another source that will sell it in small quantities.
