Ok, I'll admit it, I'm a generation "x" kid. So my knowlege of GOOD guitar players is very limited. I saw the previous thread on "Woodsong" and downloaded the Tommy Emmanuel episode. (#245 if you are interested). Holy cow! I was truly amazed at that sort of command of the instrument. Not only can he play like a wild man on speed, but he bangs, thumps, pounds, taps and bends the neck for crying out loud. I was jaw-on-the-floor amazed. My wife, who is really getting pretty sick of the whole guitar talk thing, even was impressed. So thanks guys for turning me on to this great talent. I'm going to head over to ITunes and buy some of his music.
Ok, here's a question: given the way he beats the tar out of that guitar, would you guys really want him playing one of yours? I say Yup! Then he can come back for another when he breaks through the top.Pwoolson38398.4041435185

If you ever get a chance to see him, don't miss it. Yes he uses all of his guitar. He barely has any finish left on that thing, between banging, scratching and rubbing, I'd say it's probably pretty well opened up by now. I don't think I've ever seen anybody enjoying what he does more than Tommy, except maybe me while watching him.John How38398.4258101852

Paul,
When my granddaughter was looking for a college with a guitar studies to attend next year, we were turned on to the University of New Mexico and Michael Chapdelaine. After visiting with him I was quite impressed. Then about six weeks later I was in Albuquerque visiting my Step-Daughter and her family. We attended a party in Old Town and the performer was Michael. I have to tell you it one of the six greatest performances I have ever seen. Michael is a Three time (I believe it is three time) World finger style champ. He is best known for his classical work. But let me tell you the man can rock a flat top with the best of them. Here is a link to his web site. http://www.michaelchapdelaine.com/

I am sad to hear that he has been involved in bad motocycle wreck and will unable to playing for some time to come, but will recover...Get well soon Michael

Not only a great player, but a really down-to-earth guy.

A luthier in the hole"..Thank you Thank you. no applause please just throw money MichaelP38398.5486342593

Tommy and his brother Phil (The Emmanuel Brothers) used to play pretty regularly in the local pub about 500 yards from the house I was living in at the time. I never did see them, I wasn't into guitar then. However, I will be going to see him, if and when he comes back downunder.

I did meet my wife at that pub though, can't remember who was playing that night, didn't seem to matter.
