It'll look fine Hesh, but I differ from some of the others I would have put a 0.6mm black line purfling to play off the black lines in the BRW.

Hesh--

This is going to be an incredible guitar when finished. I like the minimalist touch of opposing grain in the bindings without using purfling. This will be one sweet addition to the 401k .

Hesh,

I agree that binding like this will work fine. After all why bind with beautiful wood and add purflings when you’re just going to paint it black to cover the uneven colors of the wood.

Another beautiful piece of work! I bet it will sound as nice as it will look.

Philip

I've been waiting to see this one under finish Hesh! It does looks beautiful now.Great craftsmanship as usual.I would have gone with a small purf too but this will look wonderful when done I'm sure! I'm working on a guitar now with Brazilian appts.(bridge,f.board,binding,)I hope it looks half this good.Love your f.board!   I hope we can hear this guitar when finished.Didn't you mention you were going to record sound clips Hesh??

Looks great Hesh.

I think it would look great either way so I guess that means, Either way you've got one heck of a good looking guitar there!

Looking good Hesh. I can't decide whether or not I would have liked to see some purfling in there. I think it would look good either way. I think Colin's idea was a good one though. A single thin black line might have been great.

I've come back to this image, second in initial post, several times and it's beautiful.

I may have gone with a white or black line myself but I think you've made the right choice here Hesh.
Oh    The tuners are Waverly gold with black ebony knobs. I could say that I picked gold and black because I thought it was the best match for the BRW but the truth is they were already in my shop from our last group buy
You know... on my brown guitars (and a lot of my guitars tend to lean toward the brown side of things) I have been using the snakewood waverly's. They usually don't have a ton of bling on them and are a pretty good look on the brown guitars tip to tail.

I asked the SM guys to consider doing rosewood or cocobolo buttons... Maybe if we started a letter writing campaign or something...

Oh hey...

Great looking guitar by the way... Can't wait to see that under finish.

FWI pins, nut and saddle?

WOW Hesh!

I seem to be late on this thread, but man o man is this one a beauty!

I love the choice of no purflings. The different colors of the BRW are just enough to catch the eye and it looks "natural".

No doubt this one will sound as dreamy as it looks too!

Good job my friend!

Hesh, I'll throw my opinion in with the lot and agree that a simple purfling of contrasting color will enhance the look.  I see you attach the bridge prior to finishing - why?  (Oh, did I start something)?

Hesh -

The guitar is beautiful either way, but I too would have used at least a single purfling strip. It feels a little naked to me without it - like the builder didn't try hard enough or something.

This purfling/no purfling thing is so subjective, and of course it has nothing whatsoever to do with how a guitar sounds, which is hard for us to convey here. We could be praising utterly fantastic woodworking jobs that sound like - "guitar-like-objects", and we could be passing over plain looking boxes that sing like angels. I have always had some fear that our impressions here are somewhat-over colored by what we can perceive and judge from a visual point of view, at the expense of what a player would feel with the guitar in hand.

But heh, given that reservation, I want purflings!

Jim

Mr. True's... rendition... of Silent Night was a scream !!! He really got into it!!!

As for those stains JJ, I think that's just Monkee Butt Spray!

Hesh, I sure hope you don't think your guitar will be anything but outstanding. Personal taste can be many things, but quality work always shows through!
