I feel productive because I was able to finish my top for the SJ that I am building yesterday.  This included book matching a BRW rosette, cutting it out, thicknessing the joined top, inlaying the rosette, and sanding the whole thing to 120.

Take a look:







This is the top that I was asking about bear claw the other day.  All the bear claw but a very slight bit went away but as you can see the silking is beautiful.  This is Shane's very fine Lutz and I am sure it will make an excellent black top

Hesh, I was going to start a new topic, but since you're here and the subject of "clean" has already been broached...how about a tutorial on how you keep your shop so clean and organized? I'm moving my shop to the home we're building and it'll be indoors with the family from here on out...I gotta get serious about storing tools, and keeping a clean environment! The top is beautiful by the way...oh, and if you mention in your tutorial that a Festool sander/vacuum is the reason for your clean shop maybe I can get Melanie to buy me one!

Hey Erin thanks bro!  Yes the pic was taken with the Festool still warm.  It is essentially self cleaning with the vac attached and turned way down.  I have to turn the vac down or it will lift the top right off the bench.......

Larry bro the Festool gets all the credit.  The other vacs that I used were nothing more than strainers........  I think that having learned to build in a very small space gets one in the habit of not keeping anything around that you don't use.  And you also have to put stuff away if you want any bench space to work on.

I have now found a few basic tools that work very well for how I build and I really don't lust for any other tools, except a spindle sander and a 2,500 square zoot facility like Uncle Bob's

Hesh, my friend, That BRW looks great!  I'm glad to see that you ran the grain parallel to the lutz.

I wouldn't want you to go asymetrical on us.

You said that thicknessing and sanding eliminated most of the bearclaw?  I didn't know that was possible.  But, then again, I don't know much.......

Do you wish the bc had stayed or from the previous discussion, are you glad to see the run-out diminish?

Looks great Hesh,I`m looking forward to seeing your guitars.It sounds like you make the most of your shop time.It`s rare that I get a complete day in the shop ,so I try and do as much as possible when I get the chance.Together I think we could probably re-build A2 in a couple of days.
