It is Western Australian Sheoak (casurina fraserana)with some central spalted/mineral staining.

I will check the origin of the word Sheoak, however it is a word that is associated with a group of trees in Australia called allocasuarinas or casuarinas. Some common names are Rose sheaok, River sheoak and Western Australian sheaok.

From what I've researched, Sheok/she-oak derives its name from the sound of the wind when passing through its branches.

Well Steve I have heard that sound and it is quite distinctive.

Tim, Ok I'll go along with that, I don't mind Steve getting the bindings (I got some nice lace sheoak ones from you already), I'll even cover the postage - since I'm in a good mood (first time for everything). I do need to talk to you about some minerichi bindings since they're a good colour match for the ringed Myall I'm using for fingerboard, bridge and rosette on my latest and I can't find any Myall at the lengths needed. I'm after some really figured stuff, so if the colour isn't a perfect match the figure will hopefully overwhelm the slight colour mismatch. I'll contact you on Monday from work as this computer isn't secure enough to send you my credit card details.

Though, I do seem to remember from way back that the Kinnaird Bros owe me a pig 'cause they were short on lard and I was going to make my own out of the pig. I ain't never owned no pig before.
