I know it has been said, but thank you to all of you that have given such well thought out advice in both technical and general aspects. This is the type of info a beginner like myself needs. I really like how Alan brought up the point of other instruments and their "rice". Very good stuff here!

From a post by John How awhile ago, I liked what T. J. Thompson said once when he was asked what it took to build the best guitars. His reply was to be a better person. I think in doing so, we might gain humility which in turn enables us to learn, listen, and separate the wheat from the chaff (that "healthy degree of skepticism).
