It is with great sadness that I report that long time OLFer and classical guitar builder Max Bishop passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by loved ones yesterday.

Max was on the OLF for many years and Max had gone to Spain several times to study classical guitar building.

His classical guitars that he lovingly crafted were superb in all respects and sounded incredible.

Max had also served his county in the US Marine Corps and was a great patriot.

He was our friend, Dave and I and Max lived near us so we saw him every year or so.

Semper Fi Max Bishop you will be dearly missed.

Sorry to hear about Max, I recall him being a real gentlemanly type here on the forum.

I remember him. Wasn’t his avatar a mitered topper?

Terry I think he had a graphic of a Catholic Bishop's hat IIRC. I just checked his Facebook page we were/are friends and don't see his OLF avatar.

Max's obituary and please take particular note to the very end where it talks about how much Max loved building guitars.

Hesh, are you or some other builders in the Michigan area jumping in to get the last build over the finish line?

Not me. When and if Becki who I am Facebook friends with Max's wife seeks assistance with the disposition of his lutherie stuff and now wishes that could be brought up if you want to volunteer Brad and/or see what interest there is here.

For now though it's jumping the gun in my view Becki is really struggling and I certainly understand that personally myself after a loss in my family a little over a year ago.

We'll see what level of assistance if any Becki and the family would appreciate. It's too early to be suggesting anything.

Thanks Brad

Agreed. I saw “biggest regret” in the obit and thought that it’s pretty much the only thing the community could pitch in on.

Yeah and you should be applauded for the suggestion it's a good one and what this forum does at times be good hearted. Thanks for the excellent suggestion I just think it's a little early for it.
