Was doing back braces today and thought I’d share a little device I made to facilitate the use of a plane to taper the brace. It serves as kind of a stable ramp for the plane and protects the rest of the back. The material is flexible acrylic with plywood backing. I beveled the edge of the plane so it wouldn’t cut it. That's how I did it too with thick acetate for the planes to ride on, works great. The same material lays up nicely against the fret board extension so you can skate a shop made file along sharp fret ends on the extension and take them down without scratching the top. |

Yep, those rulers work great for that. |
