I saw this the other day. Only one little part near the beginning shows the inside of it. I wasn't really interested in the pickups; but the thick sides with veneer, and the solid strengthener in the middle between the blocks was EXACTLY what I have planned for the Less Paul II. The central bar would hold the pickups, that are really sound holes with tornvazes. The solid sides take pressure off the back, and belly especially. I would still have it just acoustic. The easiest way is to cut out the entire center piece on a CNC; including the neck slot. Carve the back and belly like any other archtop. The neck would fit tight, but be a bolt on: nuts under the fretboard, and heads of the Allen bolts in the block. Only two small holes for the Allen keys on the back. A CNC neck would make it pretty easy. To see it, just as I had planned was pretty strange. There ain't nothin new under the sun. https://youtu.be/eTDGSakDAf0?si=G1SVQv6knH7Dkz2G |

I think Gibson did this with the Chet Atkins? They are doing it with the Johnny A. Pretty sure (as you say) ain't nothing new under the sun. Could a Tele Thinline be in the same basket? I plan on making some stuff like this once I get a client to give me the go-ahead. |

That's pretty cool Ken. And sounds surprisingly acoustic. Another fun project added to the to do list. Thanks for posting the link. |
