This was sold to me as Honduras Mahogany. What do you think? Attachment: M wood3.jpg Attachment: M wood 4.jpg Attachment: M wood 5.jpg This one was sprayed with water.Been thinking of an all Mahogany guitar. I have another set of back plates. Is a jumbo body appropriate or a parlor or should I make a new mold? 00, or 000 or? |

Cherry seems like a good guess. Cherry has a fruity smell, and a very smooth feeling texture. Nothing like mahogany. |

Here's some more pics of the wood. Hope they're a little clearer. Sorry they're so big. Attachment: wood8.jpg Attachment: wood7.jpg Here's an edge shot. Attachment: wood6.jpg No fruity smell, Ken. |

Definitely not mahogany. Nyatoh is my guess. Sent from my SM-G950U1 using Tapatalk |

That’s a strong guess, John! https://www.wood-database.com/nyatoh/ Endgrain looks spot on. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

But what about the color? Lots greyer, less brown/red than Nyatoh in the database pics. Maybe I'll send a sample to the USDA and see what they say. I'm not holding out for HM but would like to know. I've got plans for a 000 downloaded. Going to the printer tomorrow. |
