Hi

The wide Fishman matrix infinity UST is listed as being 1/8" wide. Does anyone know if it will fit in an slot cut by an 1/8" inch router bit, or do I need to go up a size?

Thanks all.

It is made for 1/8" saddle slots, so it's actually a hair narrower. I have installed only a couple, but they easily fit.

What Daniel said and one other thing make sure that the instrument that you are targeting for the Fishman has bracing that will not be in the way when you drill the hole in the saddle slot. If you have plans this should be easy to spot snd this should always be checked on any UST install on any instrument.

I had a small builder instrument in the shop last week for a Matrix and the X-leg was dead center under where the hole for the UST (under saddle transducer) needed to go. Glad I checked. Matrix returned and a Baggs Lyric is on the way instead.

A good point. That’s pretty important but also pretty far down the list of things to think of as a builder, especially if you start with commercially available plans. Not that you shouldn’t think of it, but rather that you don’t even think to think of it until you have your first problem.

Turning you iPhone flashlight on and sticking it inside the guitar and turning the lights out is a quick way to see where the braces are, if that doesn't work running an inside/outside magnet along the braces will also tell…

Thats great, thanks everyone for the swift replies. And the warnings about brace positions! Noted...
