I made a really nice board today. When i got done and was admiring the work I wondered if I should have cut slots in the inlay before Binding the board. Will the frets hold with 3mm of tang nipped off on both sides? Attachment: image0.jpeg

It's normal to slot the purfling before binding but that little bit probably wouldn't hold much tang anyway. You should be good with a little more tang nipped off. Worst case is a little CA to hold it. |

Super job on the board, and yes - with care and skill, the frets will stay put. Heck, with something that nice - they'll WANT to! |

I wouldn't want tangs biting into shell anyway since it would chip when refretting in the future. |

I wouldn’t cut the shell. I’d just nip the frets and use CA. Very nice work. Multiscale? Steve |
