Many of us find it less intimidating to start with a kit for our first attempts at making a guitar. There are some excellent kits available, but be aware that even with prepared parts, it's important to pay close attention to the assembly instructions. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LWS9-RyZZz4 |

I was curious how that reverse guitar might be braced and, in the process, found that the player in the video actually made the prototype from a guitar kit. He was motivated to try this by pain in his right shoulder. Then luthier Herve Lahoun built a second prototype from scratch for him. I don't know if the one on the video is a prototype or a later one. I also found this photo on Herve Lahoun's instagram page and it looks like it could be the rims of a reverse guitar. Unfortunately, I didn't find any photo of the top bracing. Attachment: Herve Lahoun reverse guitar inside.jpg

While I generally eschew weird just to be weird, that’s kinda cool… |

It sounds like a guitar but it reminds me too much of the dorky upside down Gibson bridges |

Seems like there could be some ergonomic advantages. The large bout on the right knee doesn't need a footstool to elevate the knee, nor a support. But the small lower bout doesn't provide a place to rest the right forearm. Reminds me of this post from R M Mottola: https://luthiersforum.com/forum/search.php?keywords=amateurs&terms=all&author=rmmottola&sc=1&sf=all&sk=t&sd=d&sr=posts&st=0&ch=300&t=0&submit=Search |
