Where's the uke from? I have some wood like that and it is "Solomon Island or Philipine" Mohagany, which is known as "Solomon Island or Philipine Rosewood which is really not a Rosewood, If I remember, it is Pterocarpus Indicus. |

I was going to say Meranti too. I've got seven 1''x16"x12' boards to make into shelving or resaw into guitar parts someday. It was identified by the USDA Forest Products Laboratory. |

HelloThere123 how about a front shot of the instrument showing the brand. I guessed Nara knowing that lots of Asian instruments are made of it. If we know where this was made it may shed some light on what's abundant, inexpensive there. Thanks |

My guess is Khaya Ivorensis ( African Mahogany). |
