As part of my shop reconfiguration project I’m simplifying a lot of things. I’m also hyper focused on keeping the main thing the main thing. That means anything not directly related to instrument building goes away. I don’t need plumbing elbows, door hinges, and paint rollers mixed in with StewMac tools. I also don’t need a sliding compound miter saw. So…..
I’ve always envied Ed’s swappable binding tower setup. Sounds like a perfect time to make one! I noticed that the LMI tower base and the Dewalt 611 sub base are almost the same size. I had to cut down the acrylic sub base by .007. To keep it centered I cut .0035 off each side. I used a transfer punch to mark the holes and drilled / tapped the sub base. Swapping between routers is with two thumb screws.
And I finally got to use the Festool mount for the Vacsys. It uses the same MFT channel as their workbenches and allows flipping the vacuum under the table and out of the way.
Getting close to being done with all the shop cleanup and getting back to building, you know….the main thing.
