This is the last of 4 guitars I have been working on for over a year. I don't have another I am working on right now. In the mean time, I've been helping a friend build his first guitar. This one is an OM with florentine cutaway and arm bevel. The Mutenye back & side Set was given to me by my friend, Steve Brown. I had never heard of it before. It's actually pretty nice, a lot like Ovangkol...

That is avstunning, high end instrument Steve. That blue is beautiful. Love the way the fingerboard and bridge colors and grain coordinate as well.
How about an end wedge shot?

That’s a fine looking instrument Steve. Like the way you carried the blue theme throughout.

Sweet!

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

Karl - "How about an end wedge shot?"

I got my wife to hold it for me this morning. I used some of the lighter color wood off the mutenye scraps.
