I was thinking of Hesh while watching this. Player’s perspective is important, plus that’s a lovely Collings. https://youtu.be/0o1rY2TbxGo?si=0MeEkUzoQb3Hq94- Brad Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

Now if he would have gone for a size 1 with the long scale he would have had the perfect guitar, We all have our preferences. |

Thanks Brad the user interface as I call it, the set-up is one of the very most important things where all that you have done has to come together within a spectrum of possible set-ups. The neck angle has to be very nearly spot on, bridge and more importantly.... the saddle has to be located in the right place with high precision. The frets have to be spaced correctly and the nut and saddle(s) have to have the string break over the right areas of their slots or peaks. Relief has to be decent and string spacing as expected from past experience and other guitars. Intonation has to be spot on in my view or it will irritate the **** out of people like me. Nothing is more important ultimately than how that instrument feels when we play and how it sounds too. Even if you produce a great sounding instrument no one will want to play it if your nut slots are too high and the intonation is off. In the video we see a player bonding in real time with the instrument. What comes next is the player is so very comfortable with this excellent guitar that he plays better and what we hear is even more pleasing. He exploits the ring of the box with lots of sustain and this player AND this guitar creates a "lush" tone that pleases us as well. Everyone wins! So what came first the player of the well built guitar waiting for the player? They both matter, always and never forget it what we do does not mean a hill of beans with out the very fine musicians who make us all happy with their tunes and talent. Thanks for posting this Brad nice to see folks here concerned with a guitar actually being a tool for a musician because that's what it is. |

Now I want to build that guitar. I know I'm not ready but I need a parlor/couch guitar so someday I'll build one with all the bling. After I get my chops down on a few more instruments. Right now, I just want a finished guitar. All that setup stuff is getting near, hopefully before the year is out. |
