On a cello? Yeah. It isn't fret buzz; but sounds just like it! Only when plucking hard. The relief that I carved in the fingerboard; 2mm on the bass, and over 1 on the treble disappeared when I glued it on the neck. I think I might have done some planing on the nut end after gluing it on. There is a lump in the relief right at the end of the neck that I have to go after. At least now that I figured out what I was hearing, the buzz will be gone! Buzzing is much easier to check on a guitar. |

I've done a fair amount of work on fretless basses and one fretless guitar. Some clients like the buzz, some don't. And glued on neck or bolt on - there is an area of stress that has to be dealt with. Fretless stuff just has to be dead flat. When we deal with something that flat, there is just no room for error - so it's worth the extra effort on our part. I've got faith in ya, Ken. |
