I like the laminated braces. I see good craftsmanship throughout the shop, too. I'd love to have a new Larson Brothers flattop on my bench to check it out. |

I'm curious how he appropriated the Larson Bros trademark. Is it because the original Larson Bros is long out of business and the name was up for grabs? |

I’m curious what the laminated bracing is meant to accomplish… |

They may have purchased the Trademark. I've seen this happen with old bicycle brand names like Motobacane, an old marquee that is back in production. I've never heard of new Larson Bro guitars though. I thought this film was going to be about makers like Hans who built beautiful Larson copies. As for the laminated bracing my guess is one of the brothers back in the day said, "hey I got an idea..." and just went with it. It doesn't seem to make much sense to us modern builders but it's surely got some affect on tone. I was in Pickers Supply in Fredericksburg VA last year some time and they had a vintage Larson that I picked up to play on a bit and it blew me away. One of those rare experiences where you pick up a guitar and are truly stunned by it's tone. |

I'd be a little suspect of Dupont. They bought the rights to Maccafari guitars back in the 1980s(?) and within a short period of time, no one wanted them because the quality was so bad. I'd want to try one before getting too excited about them. I'd recommend buying the book on building them from Hanns Brentup. You can also check the threads he posted on the OLF. Truly a wonderful contributor until health concerns took him away from us. |

Interesting to have so many jigs but still bending on a pipe? Anyways looks like the somebody in Czech Republic revived the brand then sold it to Dupont in France in 2013 and now defunct. Pat |
