I am looking for a filler material for spruce tops. Something that will fix imperfections that are normally only visible after nitro finish is applied. I'm not thinking porefiller. Has anybody tried this?

Claims are it won't shrink or sink. I kind of like that its waterbased which should raise the grain a bit.

Got any other ideas (besides excessive sanding)?

Drop-filling with CA, and scraping, works for me. I use it to help out with binding/soundboard gaps. The link was for a grain fill meant to be applied to the whole surface and sanded back, not a goof-reducer. Soundboards don't need a grain filler.

Over time, we develop the correct amount of ding-awareness, and building skill and the search for remedies fades away. We also learn to avoid mistakes that require filling (a work in progress, in my shop).
