Before I do something dumb, I thought I would check here. I am trying to greatly increase the height of the drum to pass through a wooden box I am working on. Maybe three inches. The adjuster jambs. It is lubricated. My thought is to simply loosen the two nuts that seem to keep tension on the sliding parts. But that is what I want to get reassurance for before doing it. |

The adjustment screws on the ways typically have a locking nut. Loosen it, then loosen the screw. You may find that it creates too much play in the normal range, but it should work with some fiddling. I have the Ryobi WDS 1600 clone, and I had to do the same adjustment on it to be able to use the full capacity. Sent from my SM-G950U1 using Tapatalk |

John may be right but you want to be aware of the real problem that they have used a steel threaded rod through an aluminium casting. So make sure there is no damage to the Al threaded part that is stopping the raising of the drum. I keep pouring lithium grease onto this junction to try and avoid problems. There has been lots of discussion of this in the forum and a member has offered engineering solutions. Good luck. Dave |
