I built this guitar for a good friend of mine. He left everything up to me just as far as the appointments but wanted it simple plus as least expensive as possible. so to keep cost down I went with very simple binding, no binding on the head f holes or fretboard and just dots for the fret markers.
I also use a stock metal tailpiece instead of my usual handmade wood tailpiece with a handmade metal bracket. That saved about five hours right there.
Also even though the wood is really nice I bought it At a very good price so I passed that on to him.
The top is Adirondack red spruce back and sides are curly maple the neck is hard curly maple fretboard is Ebony

I’m really pleased with the way it came out sounds amazing especially plugged in with a Handmade Kent Armstrong pick up no oneImage

Nice looking box Brad.

I would be interested in knowing how you did that backstrap and volute. Is that wood or finish?

It looks really nice and clean.

Cheers,
Bob

It is wood.
I veneer the back of the head with ebony that I thickness to .050”. Using a flexible caul made from cork to glue it on with yellow glue.
Then it s just a matter of carving and sanding.
The only trick to it is to carve down the back of the neck by the thickness of the veneer so you don’t get a lump where the veneer ends.
