I think I may have posted this technique a while back but I had only tried it out on a jig simulation. I am happy to report that it works great on the real thing. Just a 1.6mm steel finishing nail pushed through an appropriately sized rubber thread protector (Ace H). A magnetic grabber pulls the pot right through the hole.
