YEah $10 bucks a blank, not bad. They had a half off deal last week too. I've just got so much I don't need any but even so hmmmm |

I did take advantage of this deal, and before they ran out (temporarily), I bought some of their heel blocks for a good price. I also ordered some comparable neck blanks from Hibdon before they run out, and some matching heel blocks from Exotic Wood Zone. EWZ has very low prices, but you have to cut off a strange little ogee profile before you use the wood. Lord knows what the wood was originally cut for. All in all, I am pretty well stocked for neck parts, thanks to the recent deals on mahogany to be had. |

Not sure about that EWZ stuff but have heard about similar things being done to skirt CITES rules or taxation regarding export of rough sawn lumber vs processed wood products. Rout a profile on a board, or nail four dowels to a slab of rosewood to make a ‘table’ etc |

That could explain it. I normally don’t buy mahogany from EWZ. They supplied a lot of the Indian Rosewood I have socked away. No weird profiles on those sets. I have never considered their other woods (besides their EIR) to be what I was looking for. But these heel blocks caught my eye, so I took a chance. I can use them; just a bit of extra work. |

Regarding EWZ-I ordered a "Mexican ebony" fretboard and bridge blank from them recently. The fretboard is beautiful and 1/4 sawn but the bridge bridge is flat sawn. I've sent 4 emails asking them to replace the bridge blank with no response. Any ideas how I can get them to respond? Gary Davis |

Gary— I’ve bought a lot of wood from EWZ over the last few years, almost all of it East Indian Rosewood, which I have found to be good quality at a great price, quickly shipped. Everything else they sell, I feel like I am taking a bit of a risk regarding quality vs. price. They are entirely dependent on eBay for their retail sales, as far as I can tell. I would raise as big a stink through eBay as that system will allow, and see where that gets you. There are eBay vendors who have a conniption fit if you say anything slightly negative, and they will do a lot to get you to retract it. Maybe EWZ will react that way. Good luck. |

With hibdon going out of business I would be surprised to see stewmac with a sudden influx of “sale wood” Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Gary Davis If it was through an Ebay auction, I had the same issue with them recently. But there is a "Return This item" option on the Ebay auction. I used that and it generates a return label and EWZ issued a refund through that. |
