I am installing a set of Schaller tuners on an archtop I am building and lo and behold look at the beautiful thing they did with the washer …that is a really nice touch.
There’s always been a little problem with the washer pressing down and cracking the lacquer some people do a recess which I don’t like.
I wonder if they did this to help solve that problem?

Brad my friend when is the last time you washed that hand? JUST KIDDING :)

That is interesting and you are probably right. We use large counter sinks turned backwards by hand to break and bevel that finish edge on tuner holes and after drilling end pin holes for acoustic pick-ups, works great.

This washer looks like it's intended to support the tuner post better too. Nice.

Not seeing the benefit of this, it still sits on the finish.

Yup, ebony dust tends to get one very "dirty".

Yes, but the collar fits tight in the hole taking some of the downward pressure off the face of the peghead...
