I used the 7 pounds, 18" spacing, .25" movement to get the Stauffer belly in the right starting point. I just used, 7 pounds, 12" spacing , 1.0" movement to get a baroque in A/ukulele belly in the right starting point. The Stauffer might have been 2.5mm, I don't remember. The uke should be 1.8; it's 2 now, and moves .75" . If the small one should be about 2.7 times less stiff, using the thickness; why does it seem to move 6 times more? If the back on the baroque in E that is 5 thirds bigger is around 4.5 thick; how thick would the one in A be? Using the numbers from the belly, and 10.8" long ( the belly has a extension on the neck) I get 3.2" but I don't know why. It is just a reflective back for strength, and has no bracing, and is less than a foot long, and 6 inches wide, so stiffness comes fast. |
