I have given up trying to install a new tire without removing the wheel. The wheel nut doesn't move either direction. Before I break something, I need to know if it OK to loosen the lower wheel nut by tapping the wrench with a hammer. This is the wheel with the motor attached. I also need to know if the nut is left handed or right handed. It is a JET 18". JET never replies to email or answers the phone. I do not have and impact wrench.

You probably saw this but if not -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IFoH6lVVQ4w -- maybe it will help.

And another -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KSKX2OlfUws

I put urethane tires on an older Parks 17". The old tires (40-50yrs) and the glue cleanup of the wheels was a hassle but the tires came off in one piece. I got the urethane tires on, on the machine without a problem, but I did put them in hot water first.

Best I can see, these two methods are with the wheel off. I also saw what looked like a good method with the wheel on, but it did not work at all for me.

I need to get the wheel off, which I cannot do.

The nut on the wheel is left hand thread.

The first link I posted shows the guy taking off the top wheel of a Jet if you watch it.

You are correct. Because I had seen that one early when I wanted to try changing it on machine, I guess I forgot all about that and did not view it again. Got it off now!
