I built a Stauffer necked Redwood 00 recently and my daughter just visited and played it. I used Endurovar and she thought the neck had a great feel to it

Mamie is a song writer and knows a truly huge number of songs. Here is a very sweet tune about song writing by Gillian Welch that touched a cord with here (pun intended)

Interesting data point - I posted this with no title except "Stauffer", and less than an hour later one of my sisters who lives 500 miles away went to Youtube and they both came up as recommended. They know too much about us!!

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

I looked around for a faux ivory and ended up with David Warther's offering of Resin-Ivory. He uses real ivory extensively and said he thought this was the best fake he has found. He said he has had people use it for guitar bridges before.

I have hit a small problem with it though. When viewed from the side the cross section should be a rectangle, but it is leaning towards the nut in the shape of a rhomboid where none of the angles are 90° anymore. Essentially, the saddle has moved slightly north as the material has distorted. This is after about 2 months so I am hoping it does not progress any farther.

I've had that happen in wooden bridges early on without any long term problems. That bridge is so cool that I really hope it works out in the long run!
