I’ve used tape a lot, but I see these lil deals where you tap it into a wedge to clamp the binding,.. anyone have pics:)? Seems it should be simple to make

The wedges are OK, but can result in gaps. I use a bunch of these, and they are perfect:

Easy to use, and no gaps. They are really useful for other things, too.

Hard to beat tape. Cheap, fast, and works every time. Sometimes simple just works!

patience + Titebond Extend + tape + a flat surface works for me. Practice and experience help, too. Often enough it's unrealistic to find a magic bullet when learning. Just gotta work at it, and accept that the first time a task is attempted the results won't be optimal but the learning is valuable.

And no, there's no solution waiting in a catalog.

I improvised this set up on my router table using scrap wood when I built my first guitar in my own shop. The fretboard and binding rest on a 1/2" thick board between two separate straight pieces of 1/2" plywood. the feather boards provide clamping pressure against the router fence. It works so well that I still use it without any modifications. There's wax paper under the fretboard and I use thin CA. Never had any gaps.

I do something like J, but only use finger pressure. Med CA b4 joining. It's living on the edge.

Thanks for the suggestions guys:) I’ve bound 10 or 12 fretboards (I don’t always do it) but am always looking for new ways to improve:)
Looks like tape is still king :)
