My local Windsor Plywood has a pair of 9-10ft, 10” wide, 8/4 Gabon ebony planks with a fair amount of black in them. For a modest price of 399.99 a board foot!Image

I think you need to amend the title - PSA for all the rich and foolish luthiers (and I doubt there are any here)....

At my local hardwood dealer the pricelist has it at $115 U.S.. I quit buying it after it went above $50 bd./ft. (it jumped to $75)
From the picture it looks like only half of it is black, so that doubles the price if you only consider the desirable wood.

Yowsers! I still have a few small planks, say 3" x 24" x 1" of black Gabon. Might have to save them for my retirement! :) Edit: Just checked the price at the local store, Blackforest here in Calgary. $180/bd ft for 6/4. I doubt they have any though.
