I am trying to find some reasonably priced Lutz. I have attempted multiple times to contact High Mountain Tone woods but no response. Are they out of business? |

Haven't heard of any problems, but they may be out harvesting and processing. I bought a few tops last year from Mario DeCosta's widow Inge last year. She told me she has lots available. Let me know if you want her contact info. Brent |

Hmmm... I have been trying for more than 2 months to get a response. Hopefully I will hear back from them. I would love to see what Inge has left. I always wondered what became of Mario's inventory. I have several tops left that I bought from Mario years ago when he used to hold the online auctions. That was my first exposure to Lutz. Always loved his colorful descriptions. Tom |

At an alternative soundboard, Alaska SpecialtyWoods Inc can supply extremely light density Old growth Sitka Spruce, which may be even lighter density than the lutz hybrid. Lighter Density is the key attribute that luthiers like about that specie. But lutz is also softer and dents easier than the harder sitka. Anyway, we offer this product as an Ultra-light variation in our Non-figured Dreadnaught size flattop guitar sort in Grades ranging from “A”- 4A/Master Grade. One would need to select the variation they are interested in, either Torrified, Non-Torrified, or Ultra-Light.
