I just bent a plain mahogany side using Super-Soft 2. Got some strange staining on the inside only of the side (see photos). You can also see the paper that was on the inside with significant staining. To my knowledge mahogany shouldn't have any oils. The only thing I can think of is maybe the Super-Soft 2? I sprayed the Super-Soft 2 on both sides of the wood. Wrapped it in Glad Cling Wrap for about 2-3 hours then removed the Cling wrap and hung the side to dry over night for about 12 hours. Any thoughts? Thanks |

That's interesting. I've only done a few sets of Honduras mahogany I have not seen anything like that. Was it Honduran mahogany? Was the heating blanket on the outside? Sent from my SM-N960U1 using Tapatalk |

I'm not sure if it was Honduran. And yes, the heating blanket was on the outside. |

Do you think it could be Spanish cedar? You would definitely know by the smell. Sent from my SM-N960U1 using Tapatalk |

Have you tried sanding the insides? |

I've had it happen using SS2. The paper looked very similar to your pics. Wood could have been Narra or Quilted Maple, don't remember. It sanded off just fine. |

My kraft paper is never crinkled like that when I take it out of the bender. Not sure if that is part of the problem or not. My stack from top to bottom: SS Slat Heat blanket Kraft paper Side Kraft paper SS Slat |

I think there could be a reaction from the paper of the cling wrap. A few tests might reveal the real culprit. |

I tried some craft paper I rescued from a package where it was used as packing material but in good shape. Wrapped damp wood before bending with a blanket and slats. Did the same thing but luckily it sanded out. I switched to parchment paper from a cooking store. Wonderful stuff, and no problems since. edit - So I think it's the paper. All paper isn't the same and craft paper isn't usually designed to get wet and hot. |

Thanks everybody. John, I do think that it is the Super-Soft 2 because that is the only variable that has changed. I'll give the Windex a try. Also, thanks for the paper suggestion Brian. I will try that as well. I was under the impression that parchment paper would not soak up the water. Am I mistaken? I do not wet the wood, but instead soak the paper next to the wood per Todd Stock. |

I've even used Windex D on kraft paper but I wouldn't call it "soak", a quick immersion through a tray then squeege it off on the edge of a workbench. Worked great on Bocote and Narra. |

I do dampen the wood and wet the paper |
