I have this set of tone wood that I intend to sell, but don't remember what it is, and I did not label it when I bought it. Attachment: IMG_5938.jpg

Looks to like one of the acacias. Koa or tas blackwood. That’s my guess, B |

The green/gold/black makes me think ovangkol, aka shedua. |

I now remember buying some Tasmanian Blackwood years ago, because it resembled Koa. I have never built with it, so this must be it. Thanks, everyone. Now I have to research and come up with a price. |

I’m guessing ovangkol, too. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Another way to help verify it is to weigh it. Tasmanian blackwood averages about 40 lbs/cu ft. (SG.54 -.64) and ovangkol about 51 lbs/cu ft. (SG.67 -.82) according to the Wood Database. https://www.wood-database.com/wood-finder/ I'm thinking it could just as likely be Tasmanian/Australian blackwood as Ovangkol from the pictures. |

Definitely not ovangkol. Could be blackwood, but looks alot like Tzalam (aka mayan walnut) |

T'zalam is almost as heavy as ovangkol, but apparently shows fluorescence under black light. https://www.wood-database.com/wood-arti ... ification/ |

This is a late reply, but I just wanted to tell you that I figured the dry weight today and it came out to 40.75 lb per cu. ft. Thanks for the help. |
