I use a mac program called EazyDraw. It seems to be pretty good and the price is right. |

For vector based drawings Inkscape is most people’s go to. It is free, about as full featured as Illustrator, and works with Mac/Widows/Linux. Oh... did I mention it’s free? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

I’ve been using a program called Autodesk Graphic for a few years now. It’s vector-based and more intuitive for me than Illustrator (which I also use for other things, FWIW) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I’ve been using McNeel’s Rhinoceros for 20 years. It’s a 3-d design program, so probably more robust than you need, but it’s an amazing program. It’s not cheap, but you can download a fully-functional trial version and you get 30 saves to get your feet wet. Years ago, after I left academia and my old version no longer worked on my new computers, I downloaded the trial versions on three different computers (using three different emails), and got 90 saves. That lasted me a long time as many drawings were one-offs and I’d just print it out then not save. Eventually I switched to Mac, so when they finally came out with a Mac version, I bit the bullet and paid the $500. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

Yep, Inkscape is great. It does take some fiddling around to learn all the path editing functions though. Try clicking and click-dragging on nodes, handles, and lines while holding Ctrl, Alt, or Shift until you figure out what each one does. But most of the time I just use a pencil and paper, and scissors/x-acto knife to cut out templates. |

Jay De Rocher did a presentation on G-Thang at one of our local luthier group meetings a while back. I was pretty impressed with its capabilities and the price is right.
