Here are some pics of some very bad blushing and my lunch yesterday. Looks like Yamaha had some finishing issues with this one. |

That is probably not nitro lacquer, is it? |

Your lunch is acceptable, I think. I have found that SOME blushing can be removed by using BOSS Guitar Detailer. You might try it, Hesh. |

Is that blushing, or the top layer(s) separating? Has the instrument recently been refinished, or is this an old finish. Not enough information to judge what’s happening... |

Looks like water under the finish or something along those lines. |

Oh this one was not in for the finish, we would not have taken it in for anything related to the finish. He's a regular and a professional musician who uses this one for outside gigs including in the rain at times. It was in for just an annual set-up since it's outside a lot. |

Hi Gene, we know what's happening it blushing which is moisture related trapped under the finish. The current owner bought it this way (really!) and knew about it and wanted it for outdoor use. Functionally the thing is the same pos that these are when the finish is not blushing so he didn't care. I posted this pic from our business because I thought that it would be of interest to folks who may not understand that guitar building (and finishing) has rather strict and inescapable relative humidity requirements. I also wanted to show my lunch. |

SnowManSnow wrote: So what’s the deal w that Yamaha? I’ve never seen that before ... not that bad. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk That's why I posted it Snow my friend. It's the worst one I've ever seen too and this is the second time we've set it up for our client in a couple of years. He bought it this way on eBay. I can only speculate that this is a result of someone at the f*ctory breaking protocol in an RH controlled area and spraying it without RH control. Or it was damp or wet when finished. It's everywhere including the headstock and neck but all the glue joints are solid. I'll bet that he doesn't have to worry about anyone wanting to steal it. OTOH we see 40 year old Yamahas in decent shape all the time. Not excellent musical instruments but real values for the budget set and beginners. I have to also say that I've never really seen any Yamahas with manufacturing issues making me believe that this one was abused after it left the f*ctory. Who knows. |
