Hi, Revisiting an early build as was never happy with the crappy bindings and poly finish, I have removed all the old finish and sanded the spruce down a fair bit, but i can still see the mark where the scratch plate was, any ideas how this has happened? Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk |

Differential darkening of the spruce likely from UV light would be my guess. |

Interesting. I've never seen something stain something else lighter. Then again in today's world of politics, I suppose it's possible ... |

As Mr. Smith suggests, the pick guard acted as a UV filter, resulting in less UV-related darkening under the guard than outside it. If the difference is very moderate, then exposure to UV will help even things out, but it will take a while. |

Leave it under a flouro, it'll turn fast. But, easier to just leave it. Do the work and put the pg back in the same spot... |
