Looks like a clean break, a little HHG, and it should go back together fine.
Not sure if the same applies to the relationship.

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

Ah, but was it still your guitar? If so, the story just got far more interesting.

My wife (Presbyterian pastor) was visiting an elderly female congregant in the hospital at a point where things were touch and go. When my wife was encouraging the elderly woman to hang in there, the woman said: “Don’t worry; I’m holding out to die at the hands of a jealous wife.”

Yeah, I think I'd give that relationship a clean break if I was in it. laughing6-hehe

I'm always impressed by the reconstructionists. I don't have the patience, myself. He just ordered a replacement...at 5x original price, lol...

. . . and I can't even think about The Hateful Eight guitar smash scene without getting sick to my stomach. I love Quentin Tarantino movies, but . . .

Kurt Russell's fault no? Or perhaps the assistant who never passed the memo on?

I can understand an angry spouse. My wife told me, in a fit of anger, that if I brought one more piece of nasty wood into the house she would pack her bags and leave. I still miss her from time to time, but now I have more wood than I'll ever need.

5X the original sounds about right. One should always expect a 'POing the Wife' tax

That 5x price could have bought a lot of flowers and candy. . .

Here is one I got at a local country auction for $40 - 1933 Gibson L-00. One other bid of $30 after my $20 opener. I always pictured a bedroom scene with a pissed off girlfriend/wife smashing it on the bedpost first on the side, then a twice on the back all the way through to the bottom of the top. The last picture shows the possible reason - she just wanted to borrow his guitar!

I’ve lost a few flip phones to a hot head red head. She knows better than to touch my guitars....got me an iPhone....let’s see her snap that in half.
