I was intrigued by the discussion on dovetail neck joints starting on page 3 of the recent Serviceable Guitars thread. One of the reasons I've never used a dovetail is simply because I don't understand the joint.

This morning, however, the YouTube gods decided to send me John Hall's Dovetail Addendum. After watching John explain and demystify the joint for 45 minutes, I just might be trying one on my current project. [:Y:]

Thanks, John!

We all owe John a huge thanks for all of his videos, but I particularly appreciate the several that explain the dovetail. Thanks, John!

It was watching John's dovetail videos that gave me the confidence to try it. Thanks, John.

That is a nice video. I’ve never understood them either but I think I have a better idea now.
