I strung this one up yesterday. Phew! Done in time to take it to the Northwest Handmade Musical Instrument this weekend in Portland (OR). This guitar was inspired by an ukulele built by Allen McFarlan that I saw four years in a thread on this forum. https://www.luthiersforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10128&t=45331 I really liked the Ambrosia maple on his ukulele. I also liked the combination of light colored back and sides with a dark top which is opposite of what we are used to seeing on many guitars. I would have liked to use ancient sitka for the top like he did but man that stuff is expensive. I think this sinker redwood was a good alternative. This particular set of redwood plates had a nice ring to them when tapped. Ebony fretboard and bridge. Khaya neck. Peruvian walnut binding. For those who may be in the area in Portland this weekend, the Exhibit is certainly worth a visit. http://www.nwmusicalinstrumentshow.org/ Attachment: Sinker Redwood - Ambrosia Maple 1.jpg Attachment: Sinker Redwood - Ambrosia Maple 2.jpg Attachment: Sinker Redwood - Ambrosia Maple 3.jpg Attachment: Sinker Redwood - Ambrosia Maple 4.jpg

Nice work! You really that body shape and overall aesthetic dialed in. Wish I could make it to Portland. LaConnor is a "maybe" for me this year. |

I dig the shape of that guitar too, very cool looking. I have some of that maple on back order now, did you have any issues bending it? |

They were one of the easiest sides sets I've bent. I was initially wondering if scorching would be a problem, but there was almost none. |
