Hey folks...

When lacquering a slotted headstock... how does one polish up the inside of the slots? Or don't you?

Thanks.

Gary.

Typically they are not buffed out inside the slots.

I have found it easier to apply several coats of lacquer with a small brush or Q-tip to the insides of the slots before spraying the neck. I sand off any finish that might find it's way to the front or back of the peghead. This allows me to spray the neck and peghead without needing to spray the slots. Like Brian, I don't buff out the slots.

I am spraying one as we speak.

I angle the spray gun in different directions from the front and back and it comes out nice with no buffing.
