If Design gets too deep, just read the summaries and move on. The rest gets easier, and Build is very accessible. |

I’ll read it even if it doesn’t soak in. I’m also a long time marine aquarist with sps and soft corals and I remember the stage where I didn’t get “any” of it.... but I read on and let it sink in... eventually it made sense (most of it) Hopefully this will be the same  Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Although Trevor does occasionally show up here, you can post questions related to the books on the ANZLF forum and he usually replies within a day or so. |

I would highly recommend that you take your time and at least try to understand everything. If your English was better then maths on the SAT then you will probably want to breeze through the equations but you can at least see how one goes to the other without a deep understanding. It basically really is a text book. I graduated from the university in '95 with a degree in Geology and Chemistry and have not read a book like it since  But again I would not just 'read the summery.' Read everything, try your best, and when you need to go back to something the summery is very helpful. Even a minimal understanding of what's under the hood helps. |

Congratulations! As others have said, the math and physics can be a little intimidating. I didn't find it all that difficult, but I was a math/computer science major before I switched to engineering, which is loaded with math, physics, and mechanics of materials. As others have said, understanding the math isn't necessary, as long as you understand the results. It all boils down to bridge rotation due to string tension should be about 2°. That may be an oversimplification.

Go through it and read the design and just accept that the equations are correct. I went through some of the equations until I was confident Trevor had his act together, he does. After I finished going through the books I used the build book to put together a falcate braced dread following "the book". It turned out to be a very good guitar and the new owner really likes it. I learned a lot from the process although I prefer to build X braced guitars. I'm pretty sure my maths skills are zero, but I don't know how to do the equation that would prove it. Nevertheless, the parts written in English were enough to transform... |
