Just a heads-up for those lurking in the DC/Baltimore metro area (Frederick, MD is about 25 miles NNW of DC)...a very nice restored 1958 Delta 14" has popped up on Craigslist for $385 asking price, which seems quite fair, given the condition and the tried and true nature of these saws.

I'd tuck this away for my own to-be-built shop, but have already become spoiled with the 19" saw in the current shop situation. A 14" saw seems ideal for someone just tooling up for repair or build, or an equipped shop where to band saws - one small and set up for trimming cuts, and the other for resaw or heavier work.

I have no interest in or relationship with the seller.

Hi Woodie,
You should buy it - even if you have to squirrel it away for a year or two. If you intend to build a shop eventually there is always a place for a 14 inch bandsaw, and that looks like a good one. Having a relatively light weight, easily moved (on casters) saw that can be set up for scroll work or thin metal cutting, or general bandsaw work until you find that "deal" on a larger saw is worth the asking price. That "vintage" tool will probably outlast the new ones.

Now why’d you have to go and show me that? Now I have to go down to my work room to see if I can make space for it.

Seriously, thanks for the heads up. Looks like I’ll be making a phone call tomorrow.

I don't need it but if I was a few hours north of here I'd buy it anyway :D

I have one of those which I bought about 50 years ago for around $500. It still works fine although it doesn't get as much use since the advent of the Hitachi re-saw and one of those little Delta 9" band saws. This is a fine tool and definitely worth having.

Since we're talking about nice older saws beehive

This is available in Thornburg VA, asking $600. It's 3-phase, needs guides (which could get spendy) and tires but you could resaw on it.

I don't know the seller, it's on owwm.org

Fall of 2017 I was helping an older friend divest his shop. He had a 14" Delta bandsaw with an enclosed base with 1992 on the motor badge that he said he got new and had used about 3 times - it still looked new. There were a bunch on CL from $400 to $550 and he wanted to move it, so we put $375 on it. It still took 2 weeks to sell. I bet if you wait a bit, one will come up near that price in the future too.

I would have bought that saw, but I have the same one but probably 70's, enclosed base, that I got for $150 needing new guides.
