I wanted to install a K&K Classic pickup without the need to drill into the saddle slot for locating pins. I used magnets instead.

I saw the idea for this jig on YouTube and made a few improvements. I was a little overzealous with the glue, but otherwise it worked great.

The top plate indexes off the saddle slot. The hole for the plunger dowel that places the transducer is drilled 1/64th too large to allow the dowel to slide but stiff enough to keep the wire oriented the way I wanted.

Maybe the idea will help you with other jigs. :)

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

Slick! I haven't had to install one of the classical K&Ks that lack the pin holes for referencing. I'll keep this one in my mind for the future.
